Logan is a region that experiences extremely high socio-economic disadvantage including unemployment, homelessness and youth disengagement. It was recently identified in the “Not Now, Not Ever” report as a high risk region for domestic and family violence. At Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre we work hard to meet the needs of our whole community from babies to the elderly. We particularly support community members in crisis or experiencing transitions and change in their lives.

Our Life Skills Program has helped thousands of Logan residents alleviate the things leading them to unhappiness including;

  1. uncomfortable/unhappy with their family relationships e.g. with their children, life-partners, their own parents, siblings;
  2. having difficulties arising from excessive emotional responses (e.g. anxiety and anger);
  3. unhappy with their relationships in the community (e.g. with their children’s school, the Dept. of Child Safety; Centrelink, the Family Law Courts).

Irrespective of their formal educational background, the program and course have been found to have the potential to help people who are seeking to manage their lives in the face of a wide range of social issues including:

  • overly stressful parenting
  • domestic violence
  • child neglect and abuse
  • family separation
  • the impact of depression, anxiety and other mental health issues
  • addiction and substance abuse by self and/or family members.

If you would like more information regarding our FREE Life Skills Program, please contact our centre on (07) 3808 4529 to register.

We’re here for our community

We also offer a volunteer programs, no interest loans and student placements. We host a market day 4 to 5 times a year and provide space for local gatherings and meetings. Everything we do is aimed at helping our community to build better lives for everyone.
